$125 million  Cost Savings Due to Use of 3D Printing - Additive Manufacturing

Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies perhaps has the most obscene savings. As of FY 2018, they have printed more than 60,000 tooling fixtures for product testing and calculated $125 million in cost avoidance. Its customer is the Department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus, which makes non-nuclear components for national defense systems.

Huge Hybrid Manufacturing Machine is Ready to Start 3D Printing Construction Parts and Structures
31 JAN 2019

The machine will be tested to manufacture demonstrator parts, such as large cantilever beam structures, airplane panels and wind turbine parts. The machine and the process technologies are expected  provide a more productive solution for the hybrid manufacturing of large engineering parts and deliver a projected 20% reduction in time and cost expenditure, as well as a target 15% increase in productivity for high-volume additive manufacturing production.

Prodways  Rapid Additive Forging system
January 31, 2019
The Rapid Additive Forging technology developed at Prodways is capable of producing large scale parts in various metals, including titanium and steel. It is based on  Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) process.  The blank is created in successive layers, very close to the finished dimensions and then machined to obtain the final part.

New Additive materials data added to e-Xstream engineering’s Digimat-AM Advanced Solver to Support Simulation

Solvay is adding 10% carbon fibre filled KetaSpire polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and neat Radel polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) to e-Xstream engineering’s latest release (2019.0) of Digimat-Additive Manufacturing (AM) software. KetaSpire PEEK AM filament data is already available for simulation on e-Xstream engineering’s Digimat-AM platform.

Digimat-AM allows customers to simulate the printing process and successfully predict the thermomechanical behaviour of 3D-printed designs in order to print right the first time.

The software offers highly accurate, predictive modelling data for Solvay’s AM filaments over a wide range of critical characteristics, including detailed warpage and residual stress, to help designers and engineers optimise the process and minimise part deformation before printing.

For highly demanding applications, Digimat further enables design validation by predicting the printed part performance (stiffness, strength, etc.) as a function of the material and the printing process parameters.

The  partnership stengthens  simulation engineering task between high-performance polymers and demanding printing processes such as Fused Filament Fabrication.

INSIDE 3D PRINTING Expo
held in Mumbai,  Jan 9, 2019

'Inside 3D Printing' Mumbai is India's premium exhibition for Additive Manufacturing (AM). The 4th edition of this expo took place at Nehru Centre, Mumbai, India on 19th & 20th December 2018.

The expo had 30 exhibitors showcasing their 48 brands. Some of the prominent ones included Imaginarium India, HP, 3D System, Shree Rapid Tech, Intech, DMLS,Novabeans, WOL#D,Flashforge, Stratasys, DesignTech, Redington, 3D, Wipro 3 D, Renishaw and Bharat Forge Ltd.

AM is bringing constructive disruption in the Indian industry, at a scorching pace. Take for example, the Indian Jewellery Industry where 75% of the Jewellery moulds are 3D printed.

By 2021 the 3D printing industry in India is expected to cross USD 200 million according to estimates by Indian 3D Printing Network. The Indian 3D Printing Market currently pegged at about Rs 850 crore is growing at about 22% pa and set to become Rs 1500 crore by 2021.
